androids in space

Last week, I received a new gear for my music production: Arturia Beatstep, this is a midi controller with pads and knobs, and also a sequencer for usb, midi and cv/gate. This expands a new ways to sync all your stuff in a very affordable way.

I found a way to sync 4 music elements in a compact space: prophet 08 (midi in: beatstep, midi thru: to ipad/dm1). ipad: (midi in: from p08, midi thru: monotribe), beatstep (usb “in”: from computer, midi out: p08), monotribe (midi in: from ipad).

This allow to any computer set the tempo of all together, well dm1 don’t responds quite well to midi start,  It requires more time to master this setup, but jamming in a very reduced space is also pleasant and avoid to run to other side of the room.

This also will work without the computer. The Beatstep can be plugged into ipad directly, without any external power.

I found this setup very confortable, all having the drum machine very near to my right hand. Here you have a little impro

mysterious space jam

These days had been productive, I did more songs starting on a daw and later sequencing on external instruments, very fun and creative when limiting tools.

setup monotribe delay

Today I did some testings with monotribe, and experimenting routing out audio to microkorg to use it as delay effect. I really like the results, very psychedelic.

mercè 2013 sounds

To continue generating sound and tracks, I did some of this improvisations last tuesday.

I’ve used dm1 on ipad for percs, microkorg for bass lines, and prophet 08 to create the rest. No sync between devices, only setting same tempo on some cases. All of them are created inside a full hour, I want to apply productivity, also in music production…
