UPDATE: broken link to the hack post
After seeing some comments from Blaz, I decided to do the downgrade as he said and works successfully! This means if you upgraded the gray electribe to 2.02 and want to test the old sampler version (1.06), you can do it by using the downgrade firmware posted below and then upgrading to sampler.
If you own a colored new model of the electribe, the blue version, please test carefully. I don’t have this machine and I’m not aware if changes something from gray version.
Here is a new video showing the downgrade:
I created the same modified firmware file of 1.10 that acts as 2.18, allowing to roll back your electribe if already has 2.02 version.
In order to get the file, you must share this post with your one of your Social Networks. Notice that KORG don’t recommend this
And after this downgrade, you probably want to try the HACK to Sampler Version. (if you are already on the mailing list, the link is in the welcome mail.)
In case you want to go to the 2.02 version again, you must switch to synth version of the hack, update to 1.19 and then to 2.02.
Please comment below if it works properly for your device. Regards!
Since fall of 2015, I’ve used this UDG case to protect the electribe 2, for dust and also to travel with. It fits on my large backpack and give me total confidence.
I fully recommend this to any of electribe 2 users. Mine is still as new, and it toured a lot. And if the table were you playing is large enough, you can use the case to stand your electribe and give you some angle for playing more confortable. Be sure to check it out!
Seems that update don’t pass unnoticed, CDM blog talks about it, IMHO, more optimistic than other forums. Check the article:
Korg updated the hardware line by painting the electribes of blue (synth) and red (sampler), like it did in the olders models.
And released this software that includes some missing options:
– Pattern chain, somebody can called it Song Mode, a new way to link the patterns together and have Song structures or complex structures split on patterns
– One-level Undo function
– Original value indicator: This seems a korg base feature at their synthesizers, I like it for live tweaking and going back to original value).
From what I know there is no way to rollback to previous firmware and hack to sampler again. If you want the sampler version working for you, please don’t try this 2.02 software and the consequent upgrades.
Also, korg created more patterns also for synth and sampler versions.
If you want to help me for keep you update it and improve your Electribe 2 Skills, please consider to donate
UPDATE: Added a windows compatible version
Some of you on my mailing list and youtube users, contacted me about if they can test the hack on their upgraded electribes (1.17 and 1.18, the current official firmwares from korg). At first I said no, assuming that the hack will not work as downgrade, but Greg, contact me and his research went forward and found a way to this on a french forum.
For my followers, I decided to the same as the first firmware files, and give it easy. In the next video, I’ll show how easy is to rollback using my firmware:
I created the same modified firmware file of 1.10 that acts as 1.18, allowing to roll back your electribe if already has 1.17 or 1.18.
In order to get the file, you must share this post with your friends. Notice that KORG don’t recommend this
And after this you probably want to try the HACK
